UKRAINIAN DELEGATION TOOK PART IN HIGH LEVEL COOPERATIVE FORUMS IN INDIA
From November 25 to 30, the Global Conference and General Assembly of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) took place in New Delhi, India, in which the delegation of Ukrkoopspilka took part.
These events were the official opening of the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, proclaimed by the United Nations.
For the first time in 130 years, India organized events of this level for cooperators from around the world. They were inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
The Global Conference included thematic sessions with high – level speakers from the cooperative movement and other fields, exhibitions, sectoral and industry events aimed at supporting the ICA – EU Financial Framework Partnership for Cooperatives.
The theme of the Global Conference – “Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All” – was aimed at creating an action agenda for cooperatives that will accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Participants had the opportunity to meet with colleagues from around the world, learn best practices, and explore opportunities for building a cooperative future.
On November 26, Illia Gorokhovskyi, Chairman of the Council of Ukrkoopspilka, took part in a reception at the Embassy of Spain in India, where the Social Economy Hub: ASETT was presented, and had the opportunity to communicate with members from the Spanish public and private sectors.
Bilateral meetings were also held with key figures of the cooperative movement, in particular with the President of Mondragon Corporation (MONDRAGON) Ignacio Azcarraga – Urisar Larrea and the Rector of Mondragon University Arturo Alvarado Hierro on cooperation in the field of cooperative education development.
On November 29, the General Assembly of the ICA was held, where the report on the structural and institutional development of the ICA during the year was heard and supported, and the strategic focus on accelerating the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and other goals was discussed.
Personal participation in the General Assembly is an important event for every cooperator – member of the ICA, where everyone can express their ideas, aspirations and requirements regarding the role and recognition of cooperatives at the national, regional and international levels.
The Ukrainian delegates had the opportunity to directly engage in discussions, communicate and establish close relationships with colleagues united by cooperative values and principles. In particular, our delegation, headed by Illia Leonidovych, met with Ariel Guarco, President of the International Cooperative Alliance, Petar Stefanov, President of Cooperatives Europe and Consumer Co – operatives Worldwide, delegations of cooperators from the United States of America, Japan, France, Italy and other countries.
